Position: Program Specialist - Azalea Trails 

📍 Location: Camp Idyllwild-Pine Cove, CA.
💲 Pay: $123 - $131 per day
📅 Duration: Seasonal (Approx. 45 working days)
🎯 Training Starts: June 18, 2025 (interviews start early 2025)

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Program Specialist is responsible for implementing engaging outdoor activities at camp while ensuring a safe, fun, and educational experience for campers. This role upholds Girl Scout values, fosters leadership development, and promotes teamwork through outdoor programs. Duties include activity preparation, camper supervision, and maintaining camp safety standards.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS:

✔ Uphold Girl Scouts' Affirmative Action Policy—ensuring an inclusive environment for all.
✔ Assist in planning and leading camp activities, including specialized and evening programs.
✔ Maintain clean and safe program areas.
✔ Support the Program Director and assist in various camp program areas.
✔ Help open and close camp, manage supply inventories, and submit orders as needed.
✔ Monitor camper safety and well-being, promptly reporting any incidents.
✔ Operate the camp store and maintain American Camp Association standards.
✔ Provide feedback for future camp improvements.
✔ Demonstrate professionalism and maintain strict confidentiality.
✔ Perform other duties as assigned to support camp operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

🎓 High School Diploma or GED required.
👥 Must be at least 18 years old (or 17 with a high school diploma).
🏕️ Experience working with youth is preferred but not required.

Skills & Requirements:

🔹 Strong time management and ability to multitask.
🔹 Problem-solving and prioritization skills.
🔹 Ability to lift 50 lbs and physically meet camp life demands.
🚗 Valid CA driver’s license & insured vehicle (DMV printout required).
🩹 Valid First Aid/CPR certification from a verified provider.
📜 Must pass a criminal history background check (Live Scan required per CA AB506).

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

🏃‍♂️ Requires physical activity such as walking, standing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
👀 Must have good vision, including depth perception and focus adjustment.
🌿 Work occurs outdoors and indoors, with exposure to uneven terrain, insects, and varying temperatures.
