Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Food Preparation Helper to assist our kitchen staff with various tasks related to meal preparation. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, with a strong attention to detail and a willingness to perform a variety of duties to ensure the smooth operation of our kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs with the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and other food items.
- Measure and portion ingredients according to recipes and kitchen guidelines.
- Prepare simple dishes under the direction of the chefs, such as salads, sandwiches, and appetizers.
- Ensure that food preparation areas are clean, organized, and properly sanitized.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, and report any shortages to the kitchen manager.
- Assist with the unpacking and storage of deliveries, ensuring that all food items are stored correctly.
- Dispose of kitchen waste, including composting and recycling, following proper procedures.
- Support the kitchen team in maintaining a clean and safe work environment, including regular cleaning of kitchen equipment, counters, and floors.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene standards to ensure the highest quality of food preparation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the kitchen manager or head chef.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required.
- Food handler certification.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
- Willingness to learn and take on new tasks as needed.
